When is Subway open?
There is no national Subway opening time, and any site that gives you one is guessing. Almost every Subway is independently owned, and the owner sets the hours around the location. A motorway services branch and a university campus branch are not running the same day.
How to get the real answer
Subway’s own store locator carries the hours each franchisee has filed, including temporary changes, and it is the only source that is current for a specific branch. The app shows the same hours plus whether that branch is currently accepting orders, which is the more useful signal when you are deciding whether to set off.
Map listings are usually right and occasionally months stale, because they depend on the owner having updated them.
The patterns that do hold
Standalone high-street branches typically open mid-morning and close early evening, earlier than most fast food, because the lunch trade is the business. Branches inside something else, such as a supermarket, a campus or a transport hub, keep their host’s hours, which can be considerably longer or shorter.
Breakfast, where a branch serves it, is an early-morning window rather than all day. Whether a branch serves breakfast at all is also a franchise decision.
Why we do not publish a hours table
We could generate one from open map data for tens of thousands of branches, and it would be wrong often enough to be worse than useless. A reader who drives to a closed shop on our say-so has been actively misled. Store hours are the one thing on this topic that we cannot verify from a document, so we do not claim it.
Common questions
- What time does Subway open?
- It depends on the branch, because hours are set by each franchise owner rather than nationally. Standalone high-street branches commonly open mid-morning, but branches inside a supermarket, campus or transport hub follow their host’s hours. Check Subway’s own store locator or app for your specific branch.
- Is Subway open on public holidays?
- Again by branch. Many close or shorten hours, and the franchisee decides. The app is the only reliable check on the day.
